Broadband packages and speeds

All of G. Network’s broadband packages are ‘ultrafast’ or, ‘Fibre to the Premises’ (FTTP) broadband. This means that, unlike ADSL or ‘Fibre to the Cabinet’ (FTTC) – which relies on copper cables for all or part of its journey to deliver the broadband connection to your home – FTTP uses only fibre optic cables. FTTP broadband is considered the fastest and most reliable type of broadband available in the UK.

Already faster than many other provider’s top-tier offerings, G. Network’s basic package offers download speeds of 150Mbps. With this kind of connection, you can comfortably stream ultra-HD quality content on a number of devices at once.

The next package up has download speeds of 300Mbps. Speeds here are ideal for families or larger accommodations with people who work from home and need to access large files, game online and stream content from various devices, simultaneously.

At 600Mbps, G Network’s third option is seriously fast. This type of connection will allow you to download a 90-minute film in Ultra-HD (4K) in as little as 8 minutes. In addition to handling heavy downloads with ease, this package will also be fit for any serious online gamers in the home, as well as family members who enjoy streaming content in 4K.

The final offering from G.Network is their 900Mbps deal. This would be an ideal option for households where internet-usage is exceedingly heavy and prefer a completely uninterrupted online experience.

Essential Fibre social tariff

Unique to its other packages on offer, G.Network’s ‘Essential Fibre’ deal is strictly targeted towards low-income households in London who receive a qualifying state benefit and are struggling to get online. The ‘Essential Fibre’ offers download speeds of 50Mbps (upload rates of 15Mbps), and is priced at £15 per month on a 12-month contract.

Contract length

G.Network’s broadband packages are available on either 12 or 24 month contracts.

3 month guarantee

G.Network offers its new customers a ‘3 month guarantee’. The guarantee states that if you are not completely satisfied with the broadband service you receive from G.Network, you can leave or switch away penalty-free and at anytime within the first 3 months of being connected.

Home phone packages

G.Network does not offer any phone line rental or home phone packages.

Upload speeds

Upload speeds with G.Network start at 50Mbps on their base package. From there, speeds jump to 100Mbps and then to 300Mbps on the 300Mbps and 600Mbps download tiers, respectively. On G.Network’s fastest package, upload speeds are symmetrical to that of download speeds at 900Mbps.

If you’re someone who regularly shares content to social media sites such as Instagram or Facebook, plays games online, or works from home and frequently sends emails containing large files, you’ll likely want to pay attention to the upload speeds your broadband provides. With G.Network’s broadband, if you were to upload1GB (1 gigabyte) worth of photos or video content, this would take around 3 minutes at 50Mbps or about 9 seconds at 900Mbps.

Router

G.Network provides all new customers with a free router. The router is already pre-configured and has four ethernet ports.

Installation

Unlike a lot of other providers who usually depend on BT Openreach’s network to provide a broadband connection, G Network owns and operates its own full fibre network, making the installation process is a little different.

After a survey of your premises and surrounding area has been conducted, G Network will then seek permission for the installation from either the freeholder or landlord of the property. Once permission has been granted, G.Network will send out one of their engineers at a day and time that’s convenient to complete the installation process.

G Network states that timescales from sign-up to full activation can be anywhere up to two months.

As a smaller broadband provider, G Network’s technical support team only operates via email. They can be reached at support@g.network and are available from Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm.

G.Network is one of a handful of providers offering exceedingly fast full-fibre broadband at competitive prices.

First six months free:-

G Network are currently running a promotion for new customers where they’ll receive the first six months of their broadband connection for free. This gives customers a fantastic saving that makes up for the lack of TV and home phone packages on offer.

Cons

No TV or phone bundles:-

As G Network remains entirely focused on providing customers with fast full-fibre broadband, there are no extra savings to be had with add-ons such as TV or home phone bundles.

Limited availability:-

Although their services now cover over 400,000 premises across London, G. Network’s availability throughout the capital is still very limited.
